The gusty winds Monday and into this morning perhaps are a precurser to wintry weather expected to hit Western Washington later this weekend that could bring the first snow of the season.
The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement that reports that cold air is expected to develop over Western Canada this week. There are “strong indications” that changes in wind flow later this week will allow some of that cold air to move into Western Washington.
Through Thursday, the forecast for Renton calls for a chance of showers, with highs in the 40s and lows in the upper 30s.
Friday night, the low will dip to around 36 degrees. Saturday’s high is expected at around 41, with a low of 35 degrees.
The snow level Saturday night is expected to be about 600 feet.
The highs and lows won’t change much through Monday, with clouds and a chance of snow or rain and snow mixed.
Today (Monday) the winds are gusting to about 25 mph, with the high in the low 50s.
