Human remains were recovered Sunday in an area of southeast Renton where crime scene investigators have been searching for the body of Kathy Chou, who disappeared in April 2010.
The investigators from the Renton Police Department and the King County Sheriff’s Office recovered a body that was buried in the ground approximately 300 yards south of the 18600 block of 124th Avenue Southeast in Renton, according to the Renton Police Department.
This is the same general area that the investigators have been searching since Wednesday that was pointed out to them by the suspect in the death of Kathy Chou. Her family has been notified of the discovery.
The King County Medical Examiners will now make a positive identification.
The suspect in the case, a 22-year-old Kent man and Chou’s former boyfriend, is being held on $1 million bail in the King County Jail in downtown Seattle. He has appeared in court and charges are expected to be filed on Monday.
