Newcastle marks Fourth at Boren

The City of Newcastle is holding its old-fashioned Fourth of July celebration with fireworks at Lake Boren Park.

“This is an event which brings family, friends and neighbors together in celebration of our country as well as our city,” said Newcastle Mayor John Dulcich.

The community celebration kicks off at 6 p.m. July 4, with celebrants encouraged to bring blankets and picnics to kick off the night. Light snacks, water and soft drinks will be available on site as well.

The celebration will include a live band from 8 to 10 p.m., followed by fireworks over Lake Boren.

While there will be some on-site parking, the city will provide free shuttle service from Newcastle Elementary School, and city waking trails can be taken to the park as well.

The city is holding a Poster Design Contest to advertise the “Old-Fashioned Fourth of July Celebration.”

Lake Boren Park is located off Coal Creek Parkway in Newcastle.
