The following information was compiled from City of Renton Police Reports.
Police responded to reports of gunfire at the 400 block of Burnett Avenue South at 11:30 p.m. July 4.
Citizens described the owner of a white sedan who was possibly involved.
Police located the man leaving the area a block away and with permission searched his car for a gun.
Officers didn’t find a gun, but they did find 10 .22-caliber bullets and .72 grams of marijuana. The driver claimed the marijuana but not the bullets. He wasn’t arrested.
Officers then found 27 .22-caliber bullets on the ground in the alley behind 426 Burnett Ave. S. It appeared there was an attempt to cover the bullets with dirt.
There weren’t any victims or witnesses for the incident.
Man robbed at gunpoint
A man was robbed at gunpoint on the 500 block of Stevens Avenue Southwest July 1.
The man was locking his car when he heard the sound of a gun being cocked. He turned around to see the man, about 5-foot-6 wearing a black jacket and blue jeans, pointing a gun at him.
The black and grey gun appeared to be .40-caliber.
The suspect demanded everything, so the man gave him his keys and wallet. A second suspect then asked for the faceplate on his car stereo.
The suspects then ran away on foot. The victim reported the robbery a couple days later.
La Hacienda burglarized
Burglars broke into the La Hacienda Restaurant at 811 S. Third St. the night of July 4.
The thieves caused damage to the front door locks, several doors, cash registers and stole about $400 cash.
A 47-inch, flat-screen television mounted on the wall was also missing.
The damage is estimated to be thousands of dollars.
Domestic assault
A woman hit her boyfriend over the head with a porcelain bowl, causing a cut that needed stitches on the 500 block of Monroe Avenue Northeast June 30.
The fight started after a night of drinking. The suspects were sleeping in bed, when an argument arose about whose turn it was to feed the baby at 6:30 a.m.
It started with the boyfriend pushing the girl out of bed, then she was hit with a pillow and pushed.
The woman filled the bowl with water in the kitchen, before dumping it on the man.
She then hit him over the head with the bowl. She told police it was self defense.
The boyfriend said she was a great mother and didn’t want to charge or give a statement.
Wallet taken
Police suspect a Kent woman of stealing a wallet from Valley Medical Center, after a man lost it July 1.
The woman was caught on video leaving the hospital and identified her. After Kent police drove by her house, she called dispatch to report the missing wallet.
She told police she kept the wallet in hopes of getting a reward.
The victim said he didn’t want to prosecute if he received the wallet back. It had about $300-$400 in it.
Blown up mailbox
A man’s mailbox was blown up July 4 at about 5:15 p.m.
The man heard a boom sound come from his front yard, when he looked out to see his mailbox in pieces on the 11600 block of Southeast 116th Street.
The officer looked for evidence of an explosive device with a negative result.
Car prowl at beach
A 1995 Honda Accord was broken into at Gene Coulon Memorial Beach Park at about 8 p.m. July 5.
Two wallets were stolen with about $100 total cash, and a cell phone.
Burglars cut through a wall
Someone attempted to break into a building by cutting a hole in the wall on the 1100 block of Duvall Avenue Northeast June 29.
The hole was about six inches wide and the room was visible from the other side when the reporting party pulled up.
A four-door sedan with tinted windows quickly drove out of the parking lot.
A shed in the back was successfully broken into, but nothing was taken.
