The following information was compiled from City of Renton police reports:
A man attempted to commit suicide with a kitchen knife in the Valley Medical Center emergency room a week after it opened.
A security guard found the 33-year-old man after hearing a scream coming from the lobby.
The man was lying down in the men’s bathroom with a deep laceration in his throat and a suicide note in his pocket, March 1.
It read, “Forgive yourselves, you all loved me well. Forgive me, I couldn’t do the same. I’m very sorry, I love you all a lot.”
He was immediately treated by staff.
The security video showed that no one entered or left the bathroom after the man entered it.
Drunk misfires weapon
A man accidentally shot a hole through his bedroom window after trying to assemble his shotgun drunk.
The former Marine was celebrating the purchase of a few new shotgun parts with a few rum and cokes, when he decided to assemble it March 6.
He didn’t know how the gun misfired, but he told police it was “stupid” to try to assemble the gun.
The pellets from the round went into the parking lot, hitting two cars and a pole on the 15200 block of 140th Way Northeast.
A weapon records check turned up clear. He told police he keeps the weapon for self-defense.
Man abusing family for years arrested
A man who had been abusing his family for years was arrested March 7, after pouring hot coffee on his daughter March 7.
The mother and father were arguing about finances at a home on Southeast 163rd Street, when one of the two daughters asked them to stop so she could sleep.
The father threw the hot coffee in her face, before beating her mother. When the daughter tried to intervene, he began slapping the daughter.
Both daughters and the mother were willing to press charges.
As the police officer was gathering his paperwork, he heard the mother say to her daughters, “It is finally over. We can relax now.”
When the officer inquired, she said the husband had been abusing them for years.
In some incidences he’d pull out a stick and beat his daughters until they bled.
He threatened to do more bodily harm and kick them all out of the house if they called police. The last time they called police was three years ago.
Burglary
One man’s computer, book reader and gaming console were stolen from his house on the 16100 block of 120th Avenue Southeast, March 2.
It appears that the suspect got in by tampering with a partially open window.
