Renton Fire Captain Roy Gunsolus, third from left, was honored as the Renton Fred Hancock American Legion Post 19 Firefighter of the Year on March 24 at its annual Community Service Program. Gunsolus, a 20-year veteran of the Renton Fire Department, is the north battalion chief. He was recently honored by the department as its fire officer of the year for his work to establish its first company officer and chief/safety officer development academies.
