A 46-year-old Renton woman died in a fatal hit and run collision on Interstate 90 near Snoqualmie over the Fourth of July weekend.

The King County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the 46-year-old woman, who was riding a motorcycle at the time of the collision on July 6, as Patricia Man-Wai Au.

According to the medical examiner’s office, Au died as a result of multiple blunt force injuries in an accident on the roadway in North Bend. The Washington State Patrol serves as the investigating agency in her death.

According to the Washington State Patrol, first responders pronounced the woman deceased at the scene.

Law enforcement have not released any information regarding an additional vehicle involved that struck the woman, stating the driver and any identifying information regarding the vehicle remains unknown as of July 6.

According to the state patrol, both the motorcyclist and the unidentified driver traveled westbound on Interstate 90, east of milepost 27, in lane three of four, prior to the motorcyclist striking an elk. The unidentified driver struck the motorcyclist after she landed in the road in lane three as her motorcycle arrived at a stop on the left shoulder.

The unidentified driver arrived at a stop on the left shoulder, prior to leaving the scene and continuing westbound.

“Further investigation revealed that after the rider struck the elk, they were struck by a white camper van which pulled over briefly and then left the scene,” stated a second news release on July 9 from the Washington State Patrol.

The agency’s communications department received 911 calls reporting a serious collision at approximately 2:45 a.m. on July 6 on westbound Interstate 90.

Witnesses at the scene of the collision stopped to help the rider and described to law enforcement the same sequence of events, according to the second news release. No witnesses were able to obtain a plate for the white camper van, nor a description of the driver.

The collision resulted in roadway blockages for approximately 4 hours and 21 minutes.
