UPDATE: The deceased runner has been identified as a 46-year-old Renton man, the Renton Police Department announced at about 5:40 p.m. Friday. The King County Medical Examiner will officially announce the man’s name. “I’d like to thank everyone for their help ni resolving this matter,” Renton Police Detective Robert Onishi said.

The Renton Police Department is seeking help identifying a runner who collapsed and died at about noon Friday on a sidewalk in the Highlands.

Attempts were unsuccessful by emergency personnel to resuscitate the man, who collapsed in the 4200 block of Northeast 10th Place, according to the Renton Police Department.

There were no obvious signs of trauma, although it will be up to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office to determine cause and manner of death, according to Detective Robert Onishi, a Police Department spokesman.

The male had no identification, and neighbors did not recognize him. He was Asian and appeared to be in his 30s or 40s. He was approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall and slender.

He appeared to have been a recreational runner; he was wearing a bright blue Nike running cap, a 2008 Seattle Marathon t-shirt over a mesh running top with purple side panels, lime green running pants and gray Brooks-brand running shoes.
