Last year, Officers Shawn Tierney and Rob Ylinen performed acts of outstanding heroism, bravery and action for their efforts at the scene of the Regency Woods Apartment Complex fire in June 2014.

To recognize their efforts, the American Legion has selected Officer Shawn Tierney to receive the American Legion Law Enforcement Officer of the Year for the State of Washington and Officer Rob Ylinen to receive the American Legion Humanitarian and Life Saving Award.

These two awards will be presented at the American Legion Conference in Spokane in July.

Additionally, Officer Ylinen received the VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) Law Enforcement Officer of the Year for the State of Washington at their convention in Yakima last week.
