Renton Regional Fire Authorities, along with other local fire departments, conducted water rescue drills on Friday, Aug. 11.
The drills included finding a submerged swimmer, rescuing people from a submerged vehicle, and learn shore logisitics of water rescues, according to a press release by Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority.
Firefighters built a prop car interior and used a small child mannequin to simulate scenarios.
“An important part of any water rescue is the logistics which must take place on the shore,” read the release. “Interviewing witnesses and family, determining the location where the victim was last seen, and the coordination of emergency personnel and equipment are all critical functions that firefighters were practicing today.”
