The Renton Regional Fire Authority (Renton RFA) is set to host the third, semi-annual King County Fire Chiefs Association Diversity and Recruitment Workshop on Dec. 10, at Renton Technical College.
The Diversity and Recruitment Workshop is a free event put together by the King County Fire Chiefs Association’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, of which Renton RFA is a member.
The event is geared toward BIPOC community members, women, the LGBTQIA+ community, and anyone who has no prior fire service experience or connections to help them embark on a career in the fire service.
This free, full-day event will begin at 8 a.m. with a catered breakfast and a diverse group of personnel from agencies around the region speaking to their unique experience joining and working in the fire service.
Attendees will then disperse to engage in five different breakout classes covering the topics of:
– Preparing for the Written Firefighter Exam
– Preparing for the Oral Board Interview Process
– Wellness and Fitness Preparation
– The Medical, Psych, and Background Check Process
– A Day in the Life of a Firefighter
There will be a catered lunch; both catered meals of the day are free to attendees and sponsored by King County EMS. The day will conclude with a question-and-answer session and an opportunity for attendees to network with agencies from across the region. Many of the agencies involved in the event will be hiring in the first and second quarter of 2023, so this is an opportunity to learn more about the hiring process and interface with chiefs from around the region.
Space for this event is limited, so it is highly encouraged that anyone interested in attending register as soon as possible to help ensure a spot at the event. To register, visit: www.rentonrfa.com/drworkshop.
