The recent incident occurred between 7 p.m. Nov. 12 and 6 a.m. Nov. 13. Approximately 100 gallons of unleaded gas – valued at $2.29 a gallon – from U-Haul vehicle gas tanks, a loss of $229.

The thief is now resecuring the gas cap, as opposed to leaving the cap unscrewed, which makes it harder to determine which vehicles have been hit, according to police.

The offense is considered first-degree theft.

Renton man is arrested

for stealing 40-ounce beer

A Renton man was arrested for attempting to shoplift a 40-ounce bottle of Olde English Beer the afternoon of Nov. 13 from the Safeway store on Northeast Fourth Street, according to Renton Police.

Seized during the arrest was what police believe may be marijuana and a small, brown glass pipe.

The man was observed hiding the beer under the sweatshirt before he walked from the store, according to police. When approached outside, he threw the beer to the ground and attempted to flee, but was stopped by store loss-prevention officers, according to police.

He resisted the officers attempts to restrain him.

The beer cost $2.59. The suspect was booked into Renton City Jail.

Renton man, 45, is arrested

for assault, driving under influence

A 45-year-old Renton man was arrested for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence and driving while under the influence the evening of Nov. 12 after apparently arguing with his wife, according to Renton Police.

The argument occurred in the 17000 block of 106th Avenue Southeast; the man was arrested in the 900 block of Grady Way South, according to police.

An officer started pacing the vehicle at 75 mph in a 35 mph zone on South Puget Drive.

The man was taken into custody when the officer received word there was probable cause to arrest him, according to the report. There was a strong odor of alcohol on him; he refused to take a breath test to determine the level of alcohol in his blood, according to police.

He was booked into the nearby Renton City Jail.

Ford Taurus is stolen

A white 1997 Ford Taurus was stolen sometime late Nov. 11 or early on Nov. 12 from near an apartment complex in the 17400 block of 103rd Avenue Southeast, according to Renton police. The car was parked along the roadway.
