Applicants must reside within District No. 1 service area — the southwest portion of the school district.

Renton School District accepting applications for vacant board member position

Renton School District is now accepting applications to fill the vacant Board of Directors District No. 1 position.

The service area encompasses the southwest portion of the school district. The appointed position will serve two years, until December 2019.

To be eligible to apply, applicants must reside within the district no. 1 boundary, be a U.S. citizen, and be registered to vote within the RSD boundaries.

Applications are due 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18. Interviews will be conducted Sept. 6. Completed applications can be submitted to Renton School Board Vacancy, 300 SW Seventh St., Renton, Washington 98057, or by email to sandra.dolph@rentonschools.us.

The District No. 1 spot was left vacant by Todd Franceschina in June. According to the district, Franceschina purchased a home outside his district and does not live in his service area.
