December’s perfect storm of rain, wind and snow created challenges for Waste Management, the company that provides Renton area residents with solid waste collection services.
As the company delivered more than 34,000 carts to Renton customers, the elements led to some customer’s public education materials be washed away or damaged by the rain or snow.
“We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused our customers. Unfortunately Mother Nature worked against us in December; however, we are making every effort to resolve all customer issues and questions quickly,” said Susan Robinson, director of Public Sector Services for Waste Management
The City of Renton and Waste Management have set up the following to help respond to customers:
• Waste Management has added more customer service staff to assist Renton customers. Residential customers who need help determining their new collection day or collection schedule should call Waste Management at 1-800-592-9995. Customers can also request additional copies of their educational materials by calling Waste Management.
• Customers whose garbage has still not been picked up due to the weather conditions or due to a missed collection can also call Waste Management at 1-800-592-9995. Regardless of type (whether garbage, recycling or yard waste), their garbage will be picked up at no additional charge within 48 hours.
• Waste Management will be mailing a postcard to all residential customers next week that will provide information on their collection day.
