Laura Snider of Renton received the Creative Writing Award with a Concentration in Nonfiction, from the Department of English at the University of Memphis for her work, “Calling Thailand Home.”

Additionally, she received the Graduate Service Award. Snider is pursuing her Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing at the university.

She is the daughter of Alan and Lynette Johnson of Renton and is a graduate of the International Community School of Bangkok.
