Rich Perteet is the new deputy administrator of the Public Works Department.
Perteet replaces Peter Hahn, who took a position with the City of Seattle.
Perteet is responsible for managing the city’s transportation division. This division plans, designs, constructs and operates the city’s transportation system.
He also oversees the management of the Renton Municipal Airport, the sixth busiest airport in the state.
He has served as president of Perteet Engineering, a company he founded in 1988. After selling that company to his employees, he served as the interim supervisor of Renton’s transportation planning and design sections. In that role, he helped guide the design and construction of the city’s $20 million infrastructure project for The Landing.
“Rich brings extensive transportation experience and knowledge to our transportation division and we are very pleased to welcome him to our team,” said Gregg Zimmerman, Public Works administrator. “This is a critical time for transportation in our city. We are in the midst of some of the largest construction efforts in Renton.”
Perteet has more than 30 years of senior and executive- level experience in transportation and civil engineering. He earned his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Washington State University in 1965. He lives in Renton with his wife Cherryl.
