Robbery of a middle school student

Renton police officers responded on April 1 to McKnight Middle School at 1200 Edmonds Avenue Northeast after receiving a report of threats involving a weapon. According to the department, the victim, a student at McKnight Middle School, reported that a vehicle approached them as they walked to school. According to the department, the incident occurred in the 2800 block of Northeast 7th Street. The suspect asked about the contents of the victim’s backpack, which included a school computer. The suspect demanded the backpack and the victim refused, fleeing home.

According to the department, the suspect pursued the victim back home, physically assaulted them by punching them in the face, and forcibly stole the backpack. The department labeled the incident as a robbery in the first degree. According to the department, the victim has chosen not to press charges due to concerns for their personal safety.

Domestic violence

Renton police officers responded on April 4 to a domestic violence incident in the 400 block of Monroe Avenue Northeast. According to the department, the victim reported she decided to head home for her lunch break and that her boyfriend had been attempting to call her at work multiple times, but she was busy and could not answer. The boyfriend came over to her residence and a physical altercation occurred. According to the department, the victim attempted to call 911 and was unable to because he had her phone. She eventually had a friend pick her up and reported the domestic incident to police via phone. According to the department, police have reasonable suspicion for a domestic violence in the fourth degree charge. The case will be forwarded to detectives for further investigation.

Fight

Renton police responded on March 31 to the 2700 block of Sunset Lane at 1:37 p.m. for reports of a fight. According to the department, officers arrived and learned of a fight between a father and son. Police arrested the son and booked him into jail.

Roadway shooting

Renton police responded on March 30 at approximately 11:39 p.m. to a shooting victim at Valley Medical Center. According to the department, the victim suffered a gunshot wound to his left shoulder. The victim stated he was a passenger in a vehicle when a vehicle pulled up alongside them and fired one round. The victim said he didn’t see anything and could not provide any more information. Investigation into the incident continues.

Threat with a knife

Renton police responded on March 30 at approximately 12:16 p.m. to a threat with a weapon in the 300 block of Vuemont Place Northeast. According to the department, officers arrived on the scene and learned of an argument that had occurred between a husband and wife where the husband had a knife. According to the department, officers arrested the suspect and booked him into jail.

Threatened with a gun

Renton police responded on March 29 at approximately 2:08 p.m. after receiving report of a threat with a weapon at the intersection of Northeast Sunset Boulevard and Union Avenue Northeast. According to the department, the victim reported that the driver of a silver pickup truck pointed a gun at her while driving eastbound on Northeast Sunset Boulevard. Investigation into the incident continues.

Robbed at gunpoint

Renton police responded on March 30 at approximately 11:57 p.m. to a panic alarm in the 2900 block of Northeast 3rd Street. According to the department, the victim reported he was robbed at gunpoint by two suspects, both carrying guns. The suspects fled after they saw another person. Investigation into the incident continues.
