The following information was compiled from Renton Police Department incident reports.
A 28-year-old Renton man was arrested early Sept. 30 after he thrust a samurai sword through his bedroom door his roommate was standing behind.
The two were arguing when the suspect went into his bedroom. The suspect punched a hole in the door and then thrust the sword out the door, stopping about five inches from the victim’s pelvic area.
The victim jumped back and wasn’t stabbed. “That could have killed me,” he told the roommate.
The suspect was still in his bedroom when officers arrived. He surrendered. He refused treatment for superficial cuts to his hand and arm.
He was booked into the King County Jail for second-degree domestic assault for intentionally forcing the sword through the door in an attempt to stab the victim.
WINDOWS BROKEN: A Seattle man rammed a no-parking sign multiple times against the windows of a child-care center on Logan Avenue South near the Renton Transit Center Sept. 30, before walking off to sit on a bench.
He broke two windows; the maintenance manager for the condominium complex where the day-care is housed told officers the company has had to replace the door and windows before, at a cost of about $6,600.
The 34-year-old suspect was booked into the King County Jail for investigation of first-degree malicious mischief.
HOMELESS WOMAN’S CLOTHES STOLEN: Two bags of a homeless woman’s clothes were stolen Sept. 13 when she went inside a fast-food restaurant on 108th Avenue Southeast.
She had left the clothes outside in a shopping cart she uses to hold her belongings.
The stolen items included pants, a Ralph Lauren Cashmere sweater, a Ralph Lauren multi-colored jacket, black dress and a blue-and-white dress.
MAN URINATES ON SIDEWALK: A 60-year-old Lake Stevens man, who is known to Renton Police officers, was arrested Sept. 23 for indecent exposure after he urinated on the sidewalk in front of the Safeway store on South Third Street.
A Safeway employee witnessed the incident; she told a store manager, who called 911. The man was lying on the sidewalk in front of a fresh pool of urine.
He was intoxicated and spoke belligerently to an officer. He was booked into the SCORE regional jail.
