Rotarians hand out 1,200 dictionaries to third-graders

This is the ninth year Rotarians have provided dictionaries to third-graders in the district.

Rotary Club of Renton made it possible for more than 1,200 district third-graders to receive the gift of words, by giving them free student dictionaries.

This is the ninth year Rotarians have provided dictionaries to third-graders in the district. Members will visit schools throughout the district during the next two weeks to personally deliver the dictionaries. Each book has a special sticker inside the front cover for the student’s name.

The total cost for the books is more than $10,000 and represents the community’s commitment to early childhood education and the importance of having students read at grade level by third grade, a district release stated.
