Rotary Club Teachers of the Month for May

The Rotary Club of Renton has honored its Teachers of the Month for March.

  • Kari Hollandsworth is a science teacher at Lindbergh High School.

Before becoming a teacher Kari began her science career in research at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.

She attended Western Washington University and earned a Bachelor of Biology degree. Hollandsworth then continued her education at Western to earn a master’s degree in education.

This is her ninth year teaching in Renton.

  • Sara Barbee is a kindergarten teacher at Renton Park Elementary School.

Before teaching in Renton, Sara taught preschool and prekindergarten in the Seattle area for 10 years.

She attended Whitworth College in Spokane where she earned a bachelor’s in elementary education.

She also attended the University of Washington where she received a master’s in early childhood special education.

Barbee has been a teacher with the Renton School District for three years.

As part of the recognition, teachers attend Rotary’s Teacher of the Month luncheon at Maplewood Golf Course. Each teacher receives $200 for classroom supplies or instructional materials.
