It’s time once again for the Renton Run from the Cops 5k Run.
The event happens September 27 throughout the streets of Renton. It is a fundraising effort benefiting Special Olympics Washington. It was created by Sgt. Randy Maynard of the Kennewick Police Department who saw the importance of raising funds and awareness for the athletes of Special Olympics Washington through the Law Enforcement Torch Run Campaign.
All proceeds from the event will benefit more than 10,000 individuals with intellectual disabilities who participate in Special Olympics Washington programs year-round.
“This is a night time run,” said LeAnn Whitney, event organizer, in a email. “Law enforcement will be staged throughout the race course. Participants will need to cross the finish line in 45 minutes or less to avoid being corralled into the “Special Olympics Slammer” and ticketed for not being able to out run the cops! Walkers, runners, kids and costumes are welcome!”
Registration is $40 per person and includes an event t-shirt. Day of registration is $50.For more information, visit the event website.
