A Renton man was arrested without incident Wednesday night after a two-hour standoff with police and members of an on-duty S.W.A.T. team.
No one was injured.
The 50-year-old man pointed one of two guns he owned at a 39-year-old woman, with whom he was living, after he accused her of taking his drugs, said spokesperson Terri Vickers.
The woman fled the home without her pants, on the 1800 block of Grant Avenue South, and used a neighbor’s phone to call 911 at 5:53 p.m.
The woman only complained of pain to her elbows, when she fell to the ground.
When police arrived, they attempted to contact the suspect with a speaker from the patrol car. When that failed, the local S.W.A.T. team was called, which included members from the Tukwila Police Department, she said.
“The guy had two handguns, so they didn’t knock on the door,” she said.
About two hours after reinforcement was called, police lit a flash bang and fired less-lethal rounds, generally bean bags, at the suspect’s front door.
“They scared him out peacefully,” she said. “He was taken into custody without further incident.”
The night before the incident, police responded to the same residence for a domestic-violence call. There wasn’t an actual assault, and police gave the woman a ride to another place to sleep.
