This fall, the Renton School District is offering a new school program for 4-year-old Rentonites called Ready Kindergarten, or “Ready K.”
This free full-day program will be available at elementary schools across the district from Monday to Friday and will follow the district’s calendar.
According to the school district, Ready K will focus on “essential academics, social emotional skills, and learning habits to support children’s kindergarten success.”
Prospective Ready K students qualify through a screening process which is based on financial, academic, social or emotional needs.
Other qualifications include:
• Child turns four on or before Aug. 31 of the current school year. If the child is five by Aug. 31, they can register for traditional Kindergarten.
• Currently live within the boundaries of the Renton School District.
• Child does not have access to high-quality learning experiences prior to Kindergarten.
