The Renton School District is considering boundary changes to prepare for a new middle school in the fall of 2016.

A community meeting is planned for 7 p.m. Tuesday at McKnight Middle School, 1200 Edmonds Ave. N.E., Renton, to present the proposed boundaries.

The changes to the middle school boundaries affect more than 1,100 students.

District staff will present the proposed preliminary boundaries for the new school. The school district is seeking input from the community; those unable to attend the meeting are being asked to provide feedback through a survey. A committee of parents and district staff created the boundaries, which only mean changes at the middle-school level. High-school boundaries will not be affected.

The district reports that the boundary changes are necessary to populate the new school, while also reduce the numbers of students and creating more uniformity in the numbers of students attending each middle school in the district.
