A 20-year-old Seattle man remained in critical condition midweek after he was shot in the face outside a bar in Skyway early Saturday, according to a spokesman for the King County Sheriff’s Office.
The shooting occurred just before 2:20 a.m. outside the Champs Sports Bar, 12544 Renton Ave. S., Seattle.
The incident “apparently began as an argument in the bar’s parking lot which then escalated into the shooting,” said Sgt. John Urquhart, a sheriff’s spokesman.
The Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident. The suspect, a man in his 20s, had yet to be apprehended as of Wednesday.
“Champs is one of the most problematic locations in our service area, as far as serious calls are concerned,” said Urquhart. Those incidents include shootings, people with guns and fights, he said.
The injured man was transported by King County Medic One to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle and was listed in critical condition.
It is believed the shooting was not related to the shooting that occurred 45 minutes earlier in Renton. Six people were injured, including one critically, in the shootout between two groups of people outside a bar on Renton’s Main Avenue. The two Des Moines men were arrested and booked into Renton City Jail.
Champs Bar has been cited twice for allowing a minor inside by the Washington state Liquor Control Board since the current liquor-license holders took over the bar on Jan. 9, 2008.
It has received five written warnings and 10 complaints. The written notices include food-service violation, for under-age service, hours of service and an expired license.
