Sen. Bill Ramos died Saturday night while on a trail run, as announced in a Facebook post Saturday evening by his wife, King County Councilmember Sarah Perry.
“Billy is my east, my west, my north and south,” she wrote. “I don’t know how I’ll do this without him.”
Ramos was the senator representing Washington’s legislative District 5, which includes, but is not limited to, downtown Snoqualmie, Renton, Issaquah, Maple Valley and Enumclaw. He was elected to his current position in November after serving District 5 as a representative. He had already declared candidacy to run for re-election in 2028, according to Ballotpedia.
The SnoValley Chamber of Commerce shared the news on its Facebook page Sunday morning.
“Senator Ramos was more than just a political figure; he was a beloved pillar of our Eastside King County community, dedicating his life to service and making a positive impact on everyone he encountered,” the post says.
Perry represents King County District 3, which includes the Snoqualmie Valley, Issaquah, Sammamish and other areas.
This is a developing story.
