Send off the Seahawks today with a rally in Renton

The Seahawks are coming! Look quickly. They're off today to Atlanta to play the Falcons Sunday in their march toward the Super Bowl.

The Seahawks are coming! Look quickly. They’re off today to Atlanta to play the Falcons Sunday in their march toward the Super Bowl.

Part of that build up is sending off the team, whose home is in Renton, from the bridges over Interstate 405 in Renton. The Benson Road overpass near Renton City Hall is the focal point of the sendoff. The team buses pass by in a matter of seconds.

So, today at 12:30 p.m. show up for a fan rally and party at Renton City Hall, 1055 S. Grady Way. The Sea Gals and Blitz will attend, along with Renton Mayor Denis Law and City of Renton officials and employees.

Fans are asked to wear their blue – and their best Seahawks spirit costume – and put on “12” buttons. There will be free hot dogs, free Seahawks cheer cards, and prizes for the best Seahawks spirit costume.

The 12th Man flag is flying at City Hall.

At 2 p.m., fans will walk to the Benson Road bridge over Interstate 405 to cheer the Seahawks bus as it heads for Seattle-Tacoma International Airport for the trip to Atlanta.

Street closures will be in affect from 1:45 to 3:15 p.m. today for the Seahawks send-off rally at Renton City Hall.

Benson Road will be closed from the Main Avenue South and Grady Way intersection through to South Puget Drive.  Local access from South Puget Drive will be available for businesses and residents. City Hall will be open for business through the Grady Way access. City Hall parking will be available in the lower lot and at Sam’s Club.
