Shooting probe continues

The investigation is continuing into the shooting Friday, Jan. 28, near Safeway on South Third Street that left two people with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.

Investigators have asked that anyone with information about the shooting call the Renton Police Department.

“As far as we know, there is no relationship between the victims and the suspects ,” Terri Vickers, a Police Department spokeswoman, said mid-week. “The shooting could be random, but we believe there was a verbal exchange between the two groups prior to the shooting.”

Vickers said the shooting victims and witnesses to the shooting are known to police.

Multiple gunshots were fired at about 8 p.m. Friday in the 200 block of South Third Street. The two victims, a 17-year-old girl and a 24-year-old man were taken to Harborview Medical Center.

The girl was released from Harborview and it was anticipated the man was to be released on Wednesday.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact Detective Hansen at 425-430-7526; refer to case No. 11-1030.
