Short chase results in arrest, minor injury to officer

Renton Police arrested a man early Wednesday morning following a brief chase in which the man crashed into a police vehicle, causing minor injuries to the officer.

At approximately 12:05 a.m. Wednesday, police officers were looking for a stolen vehicle on the area of the Arbor’s Apartment Complex in the 4400 bock of Northeast 12th Street.

While there, police observed a black BMW associated with a male suspect with a $100,000 outstanding warrant for his arrest, relating to possession of a firearm and narcotics violations.

Renton police on scene attempted to stop the vehicle, which did not comply and exited the complex onto a city street.

A Renton officer responding to assists saw the fleeing vehicle coming at his marked police car and stopped to give the suspect clearance when the suspect vehicle struck the driver’s side of the police car.

The force of the impact caused the officer to bang his head on the interior door frame. He was treated for minor injuries at Valley Medical Center and released.

The driver of the vehicle was arrested for felony eluding, as well as his outstanding warrant and an additional narcotics violation. The two passengers in the car were later released.
