The following information was compiled from City of Renton police reports.

A Snohomish woman was beaten in an attempted car-jacking in Renton on July 16.

She was driving her van near Park Avenue and Sunset Boulevard Northeast at about 2 a.m., when she stopped to see if she had run over a small animal. A man and a woman approached her – the car door was now open.

She fought with them and they broke a glass bottle on her head and hit the left side of her face.

The woman hit the panic button on her keys, and the suspects fled.

The male suspect was described as white, about 5-foot-8-inches, medium build and wearing dark clothes. The female suspect was described as white, about 5-foot to 5-foot-3-inches, 160 pounds, with medium-length blond hair. She was wearing dark clothing, too.

14-year-old robbed outside his home

A 14-year-old was robbed by two teens outside his home in Renton on July 13.

The boy was walking back from taking out the trash when he was approached by the two teens around 1 p.m. The boy lives in the 11800 block of Southeast 171st Lane.

One of the male robbers told the boy, “Gimme all you got.”

The 14-year-old asked the teen what he meant and then refused to give him anything. One of the teens then held the boy while the other one punched him in the stomach. They took his cell phone and four non-working plastic watches that he had on his right arm.

They pushed him to the ground, forcing him to land on his right hand and injure it. Then the suspects fled toward the Cascade Shopping Center.

A check of the area was done and the suspects were not located.

They are described as a white male, 5-foot-6-inches to 5-foot-7-inches, medium build, blond hair, wearing a black shirt and shorts. The other suspect was a black male, 5-foot-8, thin, bald, wearing a black North Face jacket, a black shirt with a red dragon on it and red shorts.

Man shoplifts microwave oven from Fred Meyer

A man shoplifted close to $750 from a local store on July 21.

Police went to the Fred Meyer at 365 Renton Center Way S.W. at about 6:30 p.m. for a shoplifter who was in custody.

The man was seen opening a microwave box in the housewares department and then he left the box. He approached a woman with a shopping cart full of merchandise and took the cart from her. The female then walked away and the man walked back to the housewares department. He then selected the microwave again and tore off the electronic security tag.

He placed the microwave on top of the cart, walked to the produce department, looked around and exited the store without paying for the merchandise.

A loss prevention officer apprehended him and brought him back to the store.

Police issued a criminal citation for third-degree theft, trespassed the man for one year from the store and released him.

Boy threatened with knife at park

A 9-year-old was threatened by knifepoint at a local park on July 19.

According to the boy, he was at a residential park in the vicinity of the 10700 block of Southeast 184th Lane at around 2 p.m. when the threat occurred. He was at the park with some older juveniles who ranged in age from 14 to 16 years old. The boy overheard one of the juveniles say he had a picture of his girlfriend on his phone. The boy made a remark about being dumped by the girl and one of the juveniles chased him around the park.

One of the juveniles then pulled a yellow pocket knife out of his pants and held it up against the boy’s neck. He then asked the boy if he wanted his neck cut open, to which the boy said, “No.”

The two juveniles then walked over to the basketball court and the boy went home and reported the incident to his guardian a few hours later.

Due to the time delay, police did not do a check of the area.

Pit bulls attack 10-year-old boy

A 10-year-old boy was attacked by pit bulls on July 13.

The boy was playing in a playground in the 500 block of Monroe Avenue Northeast when the two pit bulls escaped from inside a grey Nissan Pathfinder.

The boy started to run, but then thought better of it and stopped. The larger of the two dogs ran into the back of him. He didn’t realize he was bitten until later. He wasn’t bleeding.

The dogs apparently jumped back in the vehicle after the incident.

Police arrived and tried to roll up the windows to the vehicle the dogs were hanging out of at the time. An officer had to taser the dogs to get them to retreat to the back of the vehicle.

Eventually, the dogs were rounded up and taken by an animal control truck to the city kennels.

The owner was given a written warning for a leash violation and the dogs were returned.

Somali Community Center vandalized

The Somali Community Center was vandalized on July 9.

Police originally responded to a burglary at the center, 243 S. Fourth Pl., that happened between 7 p.m. July 8, and 10 a.m. July 9.

They changed the report to a malicious mischief complaint because nothing was taken. However, a glass window to the left of the doorway was shattered. The damage was not large enough for someone to enter the center, nor reach the door handle from the inside.

Over the past year, similar damages to the center have occurred.
