SNOW UPDATE: Renton schools 90 minutes late; Kent, Issaquah schools two hours late

Renton schools will start 90 minutes late this morning because of an overnight snow storm.

Starting two hours late are the Kent and Issaquah school districts, which also serve students in the Renton area.

The Renton School District has a 90-minutes late start, as opposed to a one-hour or two-hour late start, because it has a routine in place to start the school day on those late-start Fridays. Schools start 90 minutes late on those Fridays to give teachers and staff time to do cooperative planning.

The Renton late start means:

– Limited Transportation All Day.

– No High School Zero Period.

– No AM Kindergarten.

– No AM or PM Hillcrest Preschool.

– NO Head Start/ECEAP.

– No Career & Life Skills (off campus).

– No Adult Transition Program (Special Education).

-No out of District Transportation.

The Kent two-hour late start means:

– No A.M. Kindergarten.

– No A.M. Preschool

The Issaquah two-hour late start means:

-No A.M. Kindergarten.

– No A.M. or P.M. Head Start.

– No A.M. or P.M. Preschool.

– No AM School-Age Care.

– No Before School Activities.

Private schools:

– Renton Christian School is one-hour late, with BASC and SLC open at 9:30 a.m.

– Northwest School for Hearing-Impaired Children, 11:30 a.m. start time. Check your district regarding transportation.
