Renton Memorial Stadium will be closed for renovations to the track and field from this weekend through August.
The restoration work includes replacing the outdated Astroturf field with new, synthetic turf, resurfacing the shot-put areas and replacing a scoreboard and lighting.
This work is funded by a $150 million construction bond passed by Renton voters in May 2008.
Money from the bond will also fund improvements at the track and fields at Hazen and Lindbergh high schools. Work at Hazen and Lindbergh will start and finish later this summer.
The projects are designed by D. A. Hogan & Associates, an engineering and landscape architecture firm specializing in athletic facilities.
