SUSAN BRESSLER: Make Savvy Traveler your next destination

Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy! Have I found the latest, greatest new jewel in Renton! The Savvy Traveler just opened at The Landing in Renton and I was bewitched the minute I walked in the door. And, I was equally bewitched several hundred dollars later when I walked out the door. (YOU don’t have to spend that much money, my husband tells me to tell you, although the folks at ST won’t mind!).

The Savvy Traveler is located next to my other favorite spot which I have told you about previously — Vino at the Landing. I had heard about the Savvy Traveler from friends who frequented their store in Edmonds, but wasn’t quite sure what to expect — other than it is a cool store. Cool doesn’t even capture it.

On my first visit, I went in search for a couple of things – a map of Maine and a tour book of Montreal from where I just returned. I had been to Maine before, but it had been awhile, so a map seemed in order. Montreal was new for us — so we wanted to find out the hot spots and tourist locations. I captured both of those items in minutes. And, THEN, I spotted their travel clothing selection! A large selection of Columbia sportswear clothing. I found a great dress, a shirt and two pairs of shorts. They have clothing for both men and women.

In addition, their selection of suitcases was amazing and unique. I didn’t get one on my first visit — but I sure will next time. And, the prices were very very reasonable. They had all sorts of gadgets and gadgets that those of us who travel frequently can’t do without — or will make life better on the plane, train, or auto when you are traveling. Things like toiletry kits, purses, luggage tags, and totes. I already regret not picking up that traveling scrabble game for that trip to Montreal.

In addition to all of that, they also have seminars and classes available. In August, for instance, they are offering “Italian for Travelers” “Packing like a Savvy Traveler” and “Colorful India.” They have customer service down pat as well. The young ladies who worked there the day we visited were extremely nice and accommodating. One of the young ladies worked there as a high school student and came back to work at Savvy Traveler again she liked it so well. I plan to head back there soon there was this neat little blue dress I saw on display the last time I walked past. (But, shh…, don’t tell my husband). I think you’ll find something you can’t live without there as well! Happy traveling this summer!
