UPDATE (4 p.m.):
The suspect was booked into the King County Jail on charges of investigation of felony assault. The Renton Police Department is not naming the suspect until charges are formally filed, which is anticipated on Monday. The suspect has a valid concealed weapons permit. The victim remains hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.
UPDATE (11:12 p.m.):
The suspect in a shooting at The Landing is now in custody after calling 911 from his home in Newcastle.
According to police on the scene, the man was “distraught” over the incident.
Police said they received a 911 call at 9:41 p.m. from a father in Newcastle who said his son was distraught after he dropped his gun at a theater and it discharged. He was arrested without incident.
The man, who was appeared intoxicated, entered theater No. 9 at the Regal Cinemas at The Landing shortly after 8 p.m. during a showing of “13 Hours.” He was apparently fumbling with a gun he had with him when a single shot went off, striking a woman several rows in front of him.
According to police, the victim, a 40-year-old woman, is now in stable condition at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
Following the incident, police evacuated the theater, but not the entire building because the suspect had already left.
Renton police are investigating.

One woman is in the hospital and the shooter is still on the loose following a shooting that occurred tonight at a Renton movie theater.
Police were called to the Regal Cinemas at The Landing at 8:11 p.m. for a report of a shooting. A woman was found inside the theater with a gunshot wound to the torso. She was taken to Harborview and her condition is not known.
The suspect left the theater and has not been located. He was described as a white or Hispanic male in his 20’s, with short brown hair, a black top, gray hoodie, blue jeans and white shoes.
According to press release, preliminary accounts indicate the man was drunk when he entered one of the theaters and was fumbling with a handgun he had in his possession when it went off, striking another patron seated in front of him.
