The Rotary Club of Renton has honored its Teachers of the Month for February.
- Katie Kiekenapp is a kindergarten teacher at Kennydale Elementary School.
She double majored in elementary education and Early Childhood Education at Central Washington University.
Kiekenapp is currently working on her masters degree in instructional leadership at the University of Washington.
This is her third year teaching in Renton.
- Brian Hoskins is the choral music teacher at Nelsen Middle School.
He earned a masters in music education from New York University. He also earned a bachelors in the same subject from Washington State University.
Before teaching in Renton, Hoskins worked for a non-profit community chorus, called Young People’s Chorus of New York City.
This is Brian’s 10th year teaching in the Renton.
- Shawnez Graham is a fourth-grade teacher at Campbell Hill Elementary School.
She earned a masters degree in teaching from Whitworth College.
She received a bachelors degree from WSU, where she double majored in human resources, risk management and insurance.
Before becoming a teacher, Shawnez worked in retail management for three years.
Shawnez has been a teacher in Renton for six years.
As part of the recognition, teachers attend Rotary’s Teacher of the Month luncheon at Maplewood Golf Course. Each teacher receives $200 for classroom supplies or instructional materials.
