TUESDAY A.M.: State closes Snoqualmie Pass eastbound for avalanche control; check for updates online

The Washington state Department of Transportation closed Snoqualmie Pass overnight for avalanche control; an eastbound closure is scheduled for Tuesday morning for avalanche control.

Avalanche control work is scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday by the Washington state Department of Transportation on I-90 over Snoqualmie Pass. Eastbound traffic will be stopped at Denny Creek milepost 47, five miles west of the summit, It’s not known how long the closure will last.

Chains are required for all vehicles, except those with all-wheel drive.

Westbound traffic will be not be affected. Earlier Tuesday morning the state closed westbound lanes for avalanche control.
