Two Renton teens shot outside party in Newcastle

Two Renton teens were shot when a party in Newcastle became violent early Sunday morning, according to the King County Sheriff’s Office.

At least one other person was injured when a bottle was broken across his face, according to a Sheriff Office’s press release.

The incident occurred in the 11800 block of Southeast 87th Street about 1:30 a.m. Sunday. Two male teenagers, ages 16 and 17 from Renton, came to the party, apparently uninvited, driven there by a 16-year-old Newcastle girl, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Their injuries were not life-threatening.

A fight had already broken out inside the house and spilled out to the driveway. As the newcomers arrived, words were exchanged and bottles started flying. Both teens were boys shot in the torso. The 16-year-old drove them down the street and parked.

Neighbors called 911 and the Newcastle Police, sheriff’s deputies and eventually Renton Police arrived. The car with the two injured teens was located and the boys went to Overlake Hospital in serious condition, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

By the time police arrived at the house, all was quiet. Eventually police gained entry and identified about 25 people still inside. An 18-year-old was found with serious gashes to his face, so he was sent to Overlake as well.

The police investigation was hampered because “nobody saw anything,” according to the press release.

There were no arrests.

Newcastle contracts with the Sheriff’s Office for police services.
