UPDATE: Body found in van identified, death ruled to be homicide

The 39-year-old victim was shot multiple times and found Monday in an abandoned vehicle.

UPDATE:

The King County Medical Examiner on Tuesday identified the man found dead in a van on Monday as Jamar Bovan, 39, of Renton.

They have determined he died on June 29 of multiple gunshot wounds and his death is being investigated as a homicide.

Renton Police have ruled that the suspicious death of a man found dead in a van yesterday was a homicide.

The male victim, identified as a 39-year-old Burien resident, was shot multiple times. His name has not yet been released.

The van the victim was found in was confirmed as belonging to the victim.

The man’s body was found Monday by a Renton Parking Enforcement Officer in an abandoned vehicle on the shoulder of Victoria Avenue Southwest, near Renton Avenue South. The officer noticed an unusual odor coming from the vehicle and responding officers found the body inside.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the homicide. If you have any information regarding this crime, please call the Renton Police.
