The midwives at Valley Medical Center have delivered a win in Red Tricycle’s 2011 Totally Awesome Awards, earning the top spot in the Midwives and Doulas category.

Nearly 143,000 people participated in nominating and voting in 34 categories of “favorite kid everything”: from local stores and services, to strollers and car seats, to moms groups and deal sites.

“We are thrilled to have our midwives chosen as the ‘Totally Awesome Award’ winner in our category,” said Lori Prantner, vice president, Women’s Services, Valley Medical Center. “Our team of midwives is the best of the best and we are so happy to see them get this recognition.”

Midwives at VMC are certified nurse-midwives specially trained to provide comprehensive, safe and individualized obstetrical and gynecologic care. In September the Valley Midwives celebrated their fifth anniversary; they’ve delivered over 1,700 babies.
