Vehicle driving wrong way ends in fatal collision

The semi-driver suffered a broken leg and was taken to Harborview Medical Center.

Following a wrong-way collision Feb. 18 on State Route 167 at 180th Avenue in Renton, just south of Interstate 405, the causing driver was deceased at the scene.

According to Washington State Patrol Trooper Rick Johnson, right before 2:30 a.m. Feb. 18, northbound SR 167 was closed at 180th Avenue because of a fatal collision. Johnson said the causing vehicle, a mid-size SUV Cadillac SXT, was driving the wrong way southbound in the northbound lanes and struck a semi-truck.

Johnson said it is unknown if the causing driver was impaired, and that question will most likely come out when the medical examiner conducts the autopsy. Johnson said there is no information about why the driver was going the wrong way.
