A non-profit that helps homeless mothers received $2,000 from Bonneville Seattle and the Seattle Seahawks for being charity of the month.
“This is a big deal,” said Vision House executive director Susan Camerer.
Equally as important to Vision House, which provides transitional housing to homeless mothers and children, was the free promotional work Bonneville provided for an Oct. 13 fundraiser.
“It would be really difficult to pull money away for advertising,” Camerer said.
Seahawks cornerback Josh Wilson and wife Jazmin Wilson visited for the award ceremony, which included a giant check and cupcakes for children.
While some children kept their eyes on the treats, others excitedly met Wilson, who recently returned from his honeymoon.
Vision House, which also helps homeless men recovering from drug and alcohol addiction, has helped more than 600 people since it began in 1990.
Vision House is holding the NoHomelessKids fundraising lunch on Tuesday, Oct. 13, noon–1 p.m. at the Bellevue Hilton.
Wilson plans to be the honorary chair and KING 5’s Meeghan Black will be master of ceremonies. Entrance to the fundraising lunch is free, but RSVPs are required.
