Want a speed limit decrease in Fairwood? Public comments are open until Aug. 6

The proposed reduction would be on 140th Avenue Southeast, the road where one woman and three children were killed in a high-speed collision on March 19.

For 2 weeks — from Tuesday, July 23, to Tuesday, Aug. 6 — Fairwood and King County residents can give public comment on a speed limit reduction on 140th Avenue Southeast in Fairwood.

Proposed by King County Road Services, the speed reduction would be on 140th Avenue Southeast between Renton city limits and Southeast 192nd Street, which was the site of a fatal collision on March 19.

The proposed change would be from the current speed of 40 mph to 35 mph, which would match the speed limit south of 192nd Street.

Members of the community are encouraged to give their comments and feedback and then share the opportunity with others.

How to give public comment on the proposed speed limit reduction in Fairwood:
