The West Hill Business Association (WHBA) will present the Third Annual Skyway Classic Car Show and Party in the Park on Sept. 12.
The Classic Car Show will be held in Roman Casino parking lot, 11829 Renton Ave. S.and will feature up to 85 cars in 10 categories.
Dash plaques and goody bags will be given to the first 50 cars. Entry fee prior to Aug. 31 is $15 and $20 after Sept. 1 and on the day of the show. Awards will be awarded for Best American, Best Import, Best Custom, Best Stock, Best Paint, Best Interior, Best Convertible, Best Muscle Car, Best Hot Rod and The People’s Choice. In addition to the Classic Car Show there will be local vendors, food, raffle prizes and the trophy awards at 2 p.m.
The Party in the Park sponsored by Friends of Skyway Park and the Pomegranate Center will get under way with a morning work party from 9 a.m. to noon. At noon a free lunch of hot dogs, hamburgers, chips and pop will be available.
According to Dian Ferguson, WHBA President, “With the battle for green space waging, summer is the time to reclaim an underutilized park facility, clean it up, establish community ownership, and recruit and train youth and adults who care about maintaining and utilizing this 24-acre recreational area. All of us must work together to reclaim the Skyway Park and clean up the environment, to be a good steward as we work to restore the Skyway Park and to bring economic prosperity to the West Hill community.”
The West Hill community is a part of unincorporated King County, bordered by Southeast Seattle, Tukwila and Renton. It includes the communities of Bryn Mawr, Campbell Hill, Earlington, Black River Junction, Lakeridge, Panorama View and Skyway.
