Egg Hunt: The South Renton Connection neighborhood association will host an “Egg Hunt” at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 8 at Renton Linear Park. There will be four age categories including children 2 and under, 3 & 4 years of age, 5 & 6 years of age, 7 & 8 years of age, and 9 & 10 years of age. Prizes for the recent “Chalk the Walk” event will be given out after the egg hunt. Everyone welcome!

Renton Police Shred-A-Thon and Rx Drug Take Back at Renton Memorial Stadium: From 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. (or until the trucks are full), this is a great, free opportunity to properly shred sensitive documents and get rid of unused or expired medications, as well as donate to a food drive. Dragon Dash 5K/10K Fun Run and Walk at Renton Downtown: An invigorating way to celebrate Renton’s rooftop dragon, Erasmus’ birthday, this event will begin at 10 a.m. and will include medieval knights, a sword in the stone and a dragon egg hunt for kids. Spring Fling at Carco Theatre: Beginning at 2 p.m., this a capella event features barbershop harmony music and eight women’s quartets from across Western Washington. Hosted by Song of Seattle Chorus and sponsored by the Renton Municipal Arts Commission, this event is free to the public. Carco Theatre is located at 1717 Maple Valley Highway in Renton.
4th Annual Justice For All Concert: Generations Connected at Renton IKEA Performing Arts Center: Presented by Rainbow City Performing Arts, this concert will celebrate LGBTQIA+ composers of the past and present from 7 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $25 for general admission, $18 for students and seniors and $10 for youth, plus service fees. Tickets can be purchased at the door with an upcharge of $5 or online at rainbowcityband.com/events/justice-for-all-generations-connected/.

Café Vets: Monthly gathering of veterans and guests for coffee and refreshments hosted by Renton American Legion Post 19 and Auxiliary Unit 19 on the third Thursday of every month (except December) from 10 a.m. to noon. Come for coffee and camaraderie and goodies. Legion membership is not a requirement, though most veterans are eligible for membership. Post Service Officer will be on hand, in case someone needs assistance with a VA claim. No agenda, just veterans getting together with other veterans and their friends. Post Hall is in the Renton Highlands, under the water tower (3224 NE 12th St.).

Arbor & Earth Day at Cedar River Trail Extension: Volunteer to plant trees, spread bark, install storm drain markers and distribute educational materials with the City of Renton. The event will begin at 9 a.m. at the Ceder River Trail Extension on 64 Logan Avenue South and a light lunch with snacks will be provided, along with a free t-shirt and a sapling for volunteers to plant at home. Register to volunteer at rentonwa.gov/volunteer, must be 14 years of age or older and be sure to dress for the weather. Parking will be at Don Persson Renton Senior Activity Center at 211 Burnett Avenue North.

Renton Spring CERT Classes at Renton Regional Fire: Renton’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) will hold free emergency preparedness classes every Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. from April 20 to June 1. The class’ final drill will be on Saturday, June 3 at the Renton Regional Fire Authority Station 14 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Register through April 14 at rentonwa.gov/register and keyword search “CERT”.
