The Annual Celebration of Ukraine’s Independence Day at Liberty Park:This free community event will run from noon to 10 p.m., complete with local business booths, Ukrainian food fair, food trucks, live music by local Ukrainian artists and bands, a Ukrainian dance performance by Barvinok Ukrainian Dance Ensemble, a kid’s entertainer organized by Ukrainian volunteer-communities, all-age games & activities, a raffle & auction and photo stations.

Summer Concerts: Soul Searching Band at Gene Coulon Memorial Beach Park. The 10-piece orchestra will be performing tributes to Motown and disco at the Coulon Waterfront Stage. This free show will run from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Sept. 1

Autumn Moon Wine Walk and Dance Party at Gateway Park:This glow dance party — complete with vendors, visual art, a DJ, fire and more — will take place in Downtown Renton from 5:30 – 9 p.m. Wine walk participants will check in at Modern to Vintage Furniture & Design at 422 South 3rd Street. 2023 Recycling Event Part III at Renton Technical College: The City of Renton’s recycling event series concludes in September from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the North Parking Lot of RTC. Styrofoam and documents for shredding will be collected. For more information, visit rentonwa.gov/recycleevents.

Bubble Bash at The Landing: Celebrate the end of summer with The Landing’s Bubble Bash from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Located at North 10th Place in front of the Regal Cinema. The event will include interactive color-filled bubble stations, an overflowing foam zone, live entertainment, games and giveaways.

Sept. 12

The Renton American Legion Fred Hancock Post 19:This organization meets the second Tuesday of every month, except July and August, at 7 p.m. at the Post Hall (3224 NE 12th St.) in the Renton Highlands under the water tower. All veterans are welcome. Most vets are eligible for membership. America’s premier patriotic veterans’ organization and the prime driver of the original G. I. Bill, the Legion focuses on service to veterans, has influenced considerable social change in America, won hundreds of benefits for veterans and produced many important programs for the community, children and youth. Come join area vets. Meeting dates for 2023 are Sept. 12, Oct. 10, Nov. 14, and Dec. 12.

Sept. 16

Community Festival: From noon to 4 p.m. at Springbrook Church of Christ, this free family event will include games, hot dogs, a water cage, face painting, a moon bounce, photobooth, popcorn, cotton candy and a fun train express for the little ones. A representative from the Renton Mayor’s Office, Fire Department, and Police Department are participating along with local community resource representatives. The Springbrook Church is located at 10421 Southeast 192nd Street in Renton.

Sept. 21

Café Vets: Monthly gathering of veterans and guests for coffee and refreshments hosted by Renton American Legion Post 19 and Auxiliary Unit 19 on the third Thursday of every month (except December) from 10 a.m. to noon. Come for coffee and camaraderie and goodies. Legion membership is not a requirement, though most veterans are eligible for membership. Post Service Officer will be on hand, in case someone needs assistance with a VA claim. No agenda, just veterans getting together with other veterans and their friends. Post Hall is in the Renton Highlands, under the water tower (3224 NE 12th St.).

Sept. 30

Renton Downtown Fall Clean Up: Join the Renton Downtown Partnership from 9 to 11 a.m. to clean up litter throughout downtown Renton. Volunteer sign-up can be found at rentondowntown.com/events and check-in will be 8:50 a.m. Gloves, vests, trash bags and grabbers will be provided.

Fridays, Aug. 25 to Sept. 29

SOS/Food Lifeline Free Lunch Pop-Up at Downtown Renton: This weekly event will take be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. where unsheltered and Renton residents with food insecurities will be given a free lunch. A partnership between SOS Emergency Feeding Program and Food Lifeline, this event will take place at 126 South Logan Avenue North.

Saturdays, Aug. 26 to Sept. 30

Renton Parkrun at Cedar River Trail:This weekly 5K community event takes place every Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Cedar River Trail trailhead by the I-405 overpass. This free event does require registration but is meant to be a fun event where walkers, joggers, runners, volunteers and spectators can come together. Tuesdays, Aug. 29 to Sept. 26

Renton Farmers Market at Piazza Park: The city farmers market will take July 4 off but will be back in Piazza Park on July 11 and every Tuesday from 3 to 7 p.m. until Sept. 26. Along with vendors, the Washington State University’s Master Gardeners will be there each week to answer garden-related questions.

Sept. 16

Free Museum Days at the Renton History Museum:Free admission to the museum from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and enjoy the wonders of the past!
