Café Vets: Monthly gathering of veterans and guests for coffee and refreshments hosted by Renton American Legion Post 19 and Auxiliary Unit 19 on the third Thursday of every month (except December) from 10 a.m. to noon. Come for coffee and camaraderie and goodies. Legion membership is not a requirement, though most veterans are eligible for membership. Post Service Officer will be on hand, in case someone needs assistance with a VA claim. No agenda, just veterans getting together with other veterans and their friends. Post Hall is in the Renton Highlands, under the water tower (3224 NE 12th St.).

Renton River Days:
Renton River Days is back and bigger than ever! General activities will be in several locations throughout the city, including Liberty Park, Piazza Park, Pavillion Event Center, Senior Activity Center, Cedar River Park and Renton Community Center. There will be the Lucky Duck Poker Walk and Pub Crawl from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Friday, July 21 in Downtown Renton and the parade on 3rd Street at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 22. Ed McCaffrey/Gordy Neilson Memorial Golf Tournament at Maplewood Golf Course:
The annual charity fundraiser tournament in memory of Ed McCaffery and Gordy Neilson will be on Saturday, August 5, at Maplewood Golf Course. Ed & Gordy were long-time members of the Maplewood Men’s Club. The tournament is held annually in their honor. A fundraiser for Renton’s high school golf teams, the shotgun start will be at 8 a.m. for this golf tournament. After golf, there will be a gathering in the banquet room for lunch, live and silent auctions, and a raffle for great prizes. Four-person scramble entry fee is $600 per team, which includes green fare, a cart, lunch and the Jr. golf donation. Hole sponsorships — with a 30 letters max — are $100. SOS/Food Lifeline Free Lunch Pop-Up at Downtown Renton:
This weekly event will take be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. where unsheltered and Renton residents with food insecurities will be given a free lunch. A partnership between SOS Emergency Feeding Program and Food Lifeline, this event will take place at 126 South Logan Avenue North.
Saturdays, July 22 to Aug. 26
Renton Parkrun at Cedar River Trail:
This weekly 5K community event takes place every Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Cedar River Trail trailhead by the I-405 overpass. This free event does require registration but is meant to be a fun event where walkers, joggers, runners, volunteers and spectators can come together. Tuesdays, July 25 to Sep. 26
Renton Farmers Market at Piazza Park:
The city farmers market will take July 4 off but will be back in Piazza Park on July 11 and every Tuesday from 3 to 7 p.m. until Sept. 26. Along with vendors, the Washington State University’s Master Gardeners will be there each week to answer garden-related questions.
