The Office of Emergency Management continues to monitor the impacts of the winter storm and reports that all roads that had been closed in Renton due to the weather are now open. All roads are passable if vehicles are properly equipped to navigate snow and ice and if drivers exercise caution. Major difficulties on local roads at this time are the number of abandoned vehicles that create driving hazards for others, as well as interfere with sanding truck operations. The city’s Public Works crews are asking the public for their help to remove abandoned or damaged vehicles from roadways as soon as possible in order to better assist them, and reduce the risk for other drivers.
Cold temperatures are going to continue throughout the day and into Wednesday, according to forecasters, so drivers again are reminded to drive only when necessary and to be prepared with a full tank of gas and emergency supplies, according to a City of Renton press release.
Monday night there were reports of as many as 170 to 200 customers in Renton who briefly lost power. However all power has been restored at this time.
