Albert Vaughan Miller (Von), 86 years of age, was born January 1, 1925 in Renton, Washington where he spent his entire life. He quit school to drive truck and joined the Army at the onset of WWII and proudly served in the Pacific theater as an Army Medic in Company D 116th Medic Battalion with 41st Infantry Division. After the war he raised a family of 5 boys delivering home heating fuel, driving for Larson Heating, then Oil Heat Sales Inc, then Pacific Heating Oil Company. He was a volunteer firefighter, with King County Fire District 25, in Kennydale for 20 plus years where he became Fire Chief. At the age of 49 he earned his wings by becoming a private pilot. Von’s hobbies include playing music on the organ, restoring his 1929 Ford Model A and participated as a member of a local car club. He was an active member of the 41st Infantry Division Association; A Member of the Renton Historical Society. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Von passed from this life at his home on Friday evening, January 7, 2011 surrounded by his loved ones. He is survived by his brother, Fredrick L. Miller; sister, Carmen Jones; 5 sons, Gerald and Teresa, Albert and Leila, Ronald, Patrick, and Robert; 3 grandchildren, Dennis, Daniel, Lenelle; 4 great-grandchildren, Conner, Caiden, Blaize, and Jazell; and His Sweet Heart and companion, Jean Peters. Funeral services to be held 1:30 PM Friday, January 14, 2011 at Greenwood Funeral Home located at 350 Monroe Ave NE, Renton.
