C. Joanne Guay Podratz

C. Joanne Podratz of Bellevue passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2011. She was born on October 27, 1933 in Seattle as the daughter of Harry and Vivienne Guay. She graduated from Renton H.S. in 1951 and worked at Western Electric

until her marriage to Eldon Podratz on May 21, 1955. They moved to Gaylord, MN in 1955, to live on his farm. Joanne developed expertise in baling hay, tending to the chicken coop, avoiding the steers, canning and feeding the crew. The family returned to Renton in 1964 where she established a home daycare while her children were young. She later worked at a bookstore, Dr. Paul Guay’s Dentistry and auto license agencies. She held memberships in VASA, Fireman’s Auxiliary, PTA, and Girl Scouts. One of her favorite pastimes were family outings on weekends exploring the Northwest and summer road trips to visit relatives and see sights. She loved gardening, reading, bird watching, and caring for her grandchildren. More recently she enjoyed the Renton Senior Center and Snoqualmie Casino. She was a loving mom, a considerate friend and devoted grandma who will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed. There will be no funeral service, those who wish, may contribute to the American Diabetes Society. Joanne is survived by brothers Harry Guay Jr., Paul Guay, Vernon Guay, Art Larson; sisters Jean Willingham, Marilyn Gresseth; children Marcy Quandt, Marc Podratz, Melody Butenko, Kim Williams; and six grandchildren.
