Our beloved Carole passed away peacefully on April 18, 2018. She was born on January 9, 1943 in Bisbee, AZ to Oliver and Josephine Mathewson. The family moved to Renton, WA in 1947. Carole graduated from Renton High School in 1961 and continued her education at the University of Washington where she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing in 1965.

Carole and Gerry were married on July 30, 1965. Carole worked as a surgery nurse at the old Renton Hospital for a few years before leaving her career to raise a family as a stay at home Mom. Carole was very devoted to her family and spent many hours volunteering to help others. Carole did the bookwork for the family landscape business for over 40 years. She enjoyed baking, cooking and sewing.

Carole is predeceased by her son Eric Alan Edlund and her younger sister Terri Briere. She is survived by her husband Gerald Edlund, sister Cheryl Smith Payseno, daughter Marilyn Edlund, son August Edlund and his wife Jennifer, and grandchildren Eric, Charlie and Dare as well as many aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, caregivers and friends.

At Carole’s request there will be no services. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to Children’s Hospital Seattle, The Arthritis Foundation or the charity of your choice.
